Many - rightfully - regard him as the "father" of the singer-songwriter genre gat became popular in the early Seventies. His introspective songs, virtuoso acoustic guitar playing and warm voice immediately connected with an audience. This was reflected in a stream of many hit singles and albums. Canadian and US tour in 2020

The first tour plans for 2020 have just been announced. On April 14th James Taylor and his band will embark on a 12 city coast-to-coast Canadian tour together with special guest Bonnie Raitt. Later in 2020 there will be a tour in the United States, for which most dates have yet to be announced. A special concert will take place on June 21st, when James Taylor will once again play in Fenway Park, this time with special guests Brandi Carlile and Shawn Colvin.

Tickets for the events above will go on presale this week. Every ticket will include a cd or download of the upcoming album. All concert dates have been added to the tour schedule.

Tour, memoires and album in 2020

According to the latest news 2020 will be an exiting year for James Taylor fans! Besides hints that a tour will be announced soon, two upcoming releases have been announced earlier this week.

Early 2020 will see the release of Break Shot, a one-of-a-kind music and storytelling experience due for release on Audible, Amazon's audio book platform. From the press statement: 'Prompted by interviews conducted with music journalist Bill Flanagan at TheBarn, Break Shot is a deeply personal and authentic audio-only memoir featuring personal reflections on James's childhood, family life and the early days of his career. Music and songs will be woven throughout.'.

James is also currently finishing his album of standards, which will also be released early 2020 on Fantasy Records. More information about this project will likely be released early in the new year.

James Taylor on Sheryl Crow's "Threads"

On August 30th Sheryl Crow will release her new duets album "Threads". James Taylor is one of the collaborating artists, joining Crow on the new song "Flying Blind".
